Shutter Louver – quick fix

image

Pressure treated, Kiln dried clear pine ripped to width and shaped on table saw.                         Louver pin is cut on one end using a jig and drill press. Other end will be cut on site                 and fitted with a loose pin to make the repair.

Dowel will be cut so that it can slide back and forth and be retracted and extended                    for installation.  Extended pin is epoxied.  Louver hole is patched to complete repair.

Roof System Structural Failure Inside Fix

This recently purchased home had a serious structural problem. The home inspections over several years did not identify the problem. I was called in for an unrelated issue and suggested the client consult an architect as soon as possible to assess the problem.

The existing board was undersized which caused it to break in several areas. Rafters are supported and cut to receive a larger board.

The rafters where slightly spread apart to ensure that they would close tight against new ridge board.

The ridge intersection was spreading apart and potentially on the verge of failing. The knee walls, new ridge, colar ties and new post ensures  the roof system structural integrity. The post was saved from a previous job and reused here.
